Transform Your Corporate Getaway in the Cape Winelands

Step away from your day-to-day work routine and environment to gain greater clarity and inspiration with an unrivalled luxury executive retreat or workaway experience in the Cape Winelands.

Gone are the days of uninspiring boardrooms, lacklustre accommodation, and non-descript corporate catering. Combine a refreshing work experience with a bucket-list luxury travel adventure in Franschhoek

A mere hour’s drive from the Cape Town International Airport and within easy driving distance of the pristine beaches of the Cape, golf courses galore, and the best land-based whale watching in Hermanus, the historic winelands village is the perfect place for your next work retreat.

When creating your itinerary, consider including a mix of focused work time and networking or business growth opportunities with unique activities in the picturesque village and its spectacular fynbos-filled surrounds.

Establish a Supremely Comfortable Base

In order to work well, it is imperative that one rests well.

The Leeu Collection prides itself on providing guests with unrivalled accommodation, top-tier guest relations, and utterly luxurious experiences.

Book yourself and your associates or team into The Manor House on Leeu Estates - a five-star premium, 23-room country house hotel in the heart of the Franschhoek Valley. For a more private hideaway or retreat, explore the unique cottages on offer on the Estates.

For something in the centre of the village, Le Quartier Français is a historical 25-room hotel on the famous Huguenot Street; and the stately nearby Leeu House offers 12 rooms in a sophisticated boutique hotel that is available for exclusive use by those working and travelling together.

Work Together in Style

If travelling with a team or associates, it is imperative to have access to a comfortable, inspiring, and fully-equipped space for productive collaboration.

Indaba - The Meeting Place is a state-of-the-art multipurpose event and meeting venue available for exclusive use by resident guests at Leeu Estates. It is 140 square metres (1 510 square feet) in size, has its own lift, and boasts wireless audio and video conferencing equipment, a 203-centimetre (80-inch) television screen, and high-speed Wi-Fi.

The venue can be set up in multiple ways to accommodate 32 guests in the boardroom set up; 28 guests in the schoolroom set up; 72 guests in the cinema set up; or 60 guests in the cocktail set up (with catering by The Dining Room culinary team).

The space has been finished with inspiring artwork from the renowned Leeu Art Collection to set the tone for creative collaboration, and a private terrace allows for some fresh air between presentations.

Fuel up on Franschhoek’s Finest

Make the most of your time in the culinary capital of the Cape with unrivalled networking lunches and world-class after-work dinners and drinks.

Resident guests at Leeu Estates can enjoy exclusive access to all-day light dining and unique à la carte menu at The Dining Room in The Manor House. Those working or staying in the area can take a day trip to the Estates for an unforgettable meal at La Petite Colombe, sister to the award-winning La Colombe restaurant in Constantia.

Those wanting to dine in the heart of the village can visit Protégé at Le Quartier Français to enjoy the innovative concept of ‘casual fine dining’, or Épice - also on site - for a unique round-the-world culinary odyssey.

All Leeu Collection restaurants in Franschhoek endeavour to practise farm-to-fork dining wherever possible, so you can nourish your body and mind with only the freshest, organic seasonal produce to fuel optimal work performance.

Get Active & Inspired Outdoors

There is nothing more invigorating and energising after a morning spent at your laptop or in meetings than a wholesome break in nature.

Want to hike the area’s scenic trails? A perfect place to start is at the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve, which is a part of the UNESCO Cape Winelands Biosphere Reserve, and contains 5 000 rare varieties of plants plus abundant wildlife. The two highest peaks, Perdekop and Du Toitskop, can be reached by hiking trails that range from 2k m to 13km (between 1 - 7 hours), so there are many options, depending on your or your group's fitness levels and time.

If water-based activities are more to your liking, you can head over to La Ferme and spend the day fly fishing at one of their four fully-stocked dams. Two of the dams are stocked regularly with trout; one contains bass, tilapia and trout for spinning and fly fishing; and the other is teeming with carp (which is great for beginners).

Explore the Village

If you only have an hour to step away for lunch, why not take to the streets of Franschhoek for a light stroll past the quaint restaurants, art galleries, boutique stores, and cultural and historical sites? The combination of natural splendour and traditional Cape Dutch architecture is one of the many draw cards of the village.

Step Back in Time

Be transported to a time before endless Zoom meetings and persistent notifications by visiting the Huguenot Memorial Museum to learn all about the history of the Huguenots, the more than 160 000 French Protestant refugees who arrived in South Africa and made Franschhoek their home in the 17th century.

While you are there, you can marvel at the stately Huguenot Monument, visit the first South African Perfume Museum, and enjoy the peaceful gardens.

Should you or your team be interested in more modern history, the Motor Museum, located off the R45, is a must. With over 220 vehicles in their collection, including motorcycles, bicycles, and related memorabilia from the last century, it offers a unique adventure through the ages of automation.

Make Time for Contemplation & Inspiration

Need a midday breather, a quiet place for contemplation, or an opportunity to zoom out for a fresh perspective?

The expertly manicured grounds of Leeu Estates combine natural splendour with awe-inspiring art, thanks to the on-site Everard Read Art Gallery and Monumental Sculpture Park.

South Africa’s oldest and largest group of galleries, the Everard Read Galleries specialise in contemporary art from South Africa and the diaspora. The focus of Everard Read on Leeu Estates is on showcasing monumental sculpture amongst the breathtaking fynbos and vineyards, as well as exhibiting important works by local artists in the superb purpose-built gallery.

A sister gallery in the prestigious group, Everard Read Franschhoek is situated right next door to Le Quartier Français and Leeu House on Huguenot Street. With a year-round programme of solo and group exhibitions, the gallery brings the finest contemporary art to the Cape Winelands.

Refresh & Reset with Pure Pampering

Make time to destress and decompress by booking a treatment at the best-in-class Leeu Spa by Healing Earth on Leeu Estates

The optimally positioned sanctuary is home to four expansive treatment rooms, a nail salon, his-and-hers steam rooms, a plunge pool overlooking a charming lily pond, and a 15-metre-long infinity pool.

With breathtaking views, freshly-made healthy refreshments, and expertly-administered, proudly South African treatments, you will no doubt find it the perfect place to linger.

Sip on World-Class Wines

Last but certainly not least, no trip to the winelands - whether for work or play - would be complete without sampling the region’s finest.

Unwind after a long day of work or connect to your team or partners over a glass of award-winning wines at a luxury tutored tasting of Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines at The Wine Studio on Leeu Estates, or head over to Le Quartier Français to sample the exceptional creations of the Great Heart Wines staff empowerment initiative.

Should you wish to visit the other notable wineries in the area, our guest liaison team can assist you in creating a bespoke itinerary to suit your needs.
